ABOUT THE FILM

Mumon-an, a prewar ryotei restaurant in Tachikawa, Tokyo, has a rich history and is beloved by the local community, but in 2021, Michelin-starred Chef Yoshinori Ishii and his team started working to transform it into Auberge Tokito, a new place offering innovative Japanese cuisine. This documentary captures Chef Ishii’s relentless pursuit of unique ingredients, the challenges of environmental sustainability, and his personal creative struggles. Beautifully filmed all over Japan, it weaves its themes—of cultural heritage and modern gastronomy—with the poignant cycles of nature and life.

Tickets for this unique film-and-food experience are $75 each.

A SPECIAL NIGHT AT THE PAC:
PRIME MINISTER
WITH RT. HON. DAME JACINDA ARDERN

FRIDAY, MARCH 28 | 7:30 PM
THE MARTHA’S VINEYARD PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

We are honored to welcome the film subject, the Rt. Hon. Dame Jacinda Ardern, and directors Lindsay Utz and Michelle Walshe, for a special post-screening discussion moderated by filmmaker Dawn Porter.

ABOUT THE FILM

The Right Honorable Dame Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand's 40th prime minister, led her nation through extraordinary challenges, including the Christchurch mosque shootings and the Covid-19 pandemic. She implemented bold policies, such as decriminalizing abortion and extending paid parental leave, and became only the second elected leader in history to give birth while in office. Inclusive and empathetic, her leadership reshaped global expectations of effective governance. Featuring footage shot by her husband, and never-before-heard audio interviews, this Sundance-winning film examines her life during and after those five years in power.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear from one of the world’s most inspiring leaders.

Tickets for this event are $25.
