Each of these short documentary films provides unique insight into the transformative power of nature. Through compelling and heartfelt stories, they illuminate the essential relationship between people and the environments in which they live.


BETWEEN EARTH AND SKY

Renowned ecologist Nalini Nadkarni studies "what grows back” after a disturbance in the canopy of a rainforest. After surviving a life-threatening fall from a tree on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, she turns her research question towards herself, exploring the effects of disruption and recovery throughout her own life.


SEEDS OF CHANGE

Maine farmer Mark McBrine sets out to transform the prison food system, through organic agriculture. Filmed over two years, this documentary captures the journey he and several incarcerated men make as they cultivate the soil in a unique, five-acre, prison garden. In a place where life is routinely defined by shame and despair, growing good food becomes a gateway to meaning, wellness, and dignity.


WINDING PATH

Jenna Murray, a member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and medical student at the University of Utah, recalls her childhood on her family's ranch in the Wind River reservation in Wyoming, where she cherished assisting her grandfather, who was a cowboy, teacher, and tribal judge. When he passes away from a preventable health condition, she confronts the challenge of pursuing a career in tribal medicine while navigating her own mental health struggles.
