Dirs. Jane Pollard and Iain Forsyth | Documentary | U.K. | 2025 | 1 hr. 39 min.
Marianne Faithfull, the insatiable, genre-defying British singer, songwriter, and cultural icon, is honored in this experimental documentary by the co-directors of the much-lauded 20,000 Days on Earth. The film is set within the “Ministry of Not Forgetting,” a fictional research facility where actors Tilda Swinton and George MacKay begin an inquiry into Faithfull’s six-decade career. Though ailing and nearing the end of her life, Faithfull is a willing and magnetic participant in her last on-screen appearance: sharp, funny, and unflinchingly herself. Her presence is woven together with rich archival footage and musical performances, including those by Beth Orton, Courtney Love, Nick Cave, and Suki Waterhouse. Playful and inventive, this is a portrait of an artist who never fit the mold.
Tickets for this screening are general-admission and pay-what-you-can.
The suggested ticket price is $20. If you can pay more, we greatly appreciate it!
