nothing left unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper
Dir. Liz Garbus | Documentary | U.S.A. | 2016 | 108 min.
SUNDAY, March 20, 3:00 p.m. - Chilmark Community Center
Privilege, love, loss, and survival are all put under the lens in this film about the highly publicized life of Gloria Vanderbilt. Her youngest son, news anchor Anderson Cooper, peppers his still-vibrant mother with questions about her storied public and private personas. Over the years, the national media has spun itself into a frenzy over seemingly every point in her life: her dramatic childhood custody battle, a first husband four decades her senior, a slew of famous suitors including Frank Sinatra, an acting career, and eventually a successful fashion business. Veteran director Liz Garbus (What Happened, Miss Simone?) delicately melds archival footage and home movies that supply the backdrop to Vanderbilt’s rich and nuanced life.
