Dirs. Heidi Ewing and Rachel GradyDocumentary | U.S.A. | 2016 | 91 min.

SATURDAY, March 19, 8:15 p.m. - Chilmark Community Center

Arguably the most influential writer and producer in the history of television, Norman Lear created a courageous primetime brand that was in sync with the times. With his legendary 1970s shows such as All In the Family and The Jeffersons, he set the standard for American television by directly addressing issues of wealth inequality and prejudice. Much of his work, the characters he created, and the conversations they had, are still relevant, making viewers wonder if today’s programming is of the same caliber. Shaped by his personal history as well as his complex dialogue with the world, Mr. Lear proves—at age 93—that he is as vital and engaged as he ever was.
