SATURDAY, March 19, 3:30 p.m. - Chilmark School

This beautiful, quiet tale of friendship is the first Ethiopian film ever to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. It follows a young boy and his best friend—a lamb named Chuni—who are left in the care of distant relatives in a remote mountain village. As the holidays approach, there are threats that his pet will become a feast. The young boy must plan his escape by using his hidden talent for cooking. He treks to the market to sell homemade samosas to save up for a bus ticket back home.

“Sheer brilliance knits together the first Ethiopian film at Cannes.” - Jordan Hoffman, The Guardian
