In this follow-up to North of the Sun (MVFF 2014), three Norwegian brothers leave the modern world behind and travel to the remote Bear Island (Bjørnøya) in search of perfect waves untouched by other surfers. Towing sleds that carry their climbing gear and surfboards, they explore the harsh Arctic island with cross-country skis, snowboards, and a paraglider. For nourishment they have brought their fishing gear and a load of food taken from supermarket dumpsters back home. On their two-month adventure, especially while surfing in the frigid waves, they take turns standing guard on shore, poised with a rifle in case Bjørnøya’s namesake, the polar bear, emerges from the snowdrifts.
