Dir. Jill Soloway | Narrative | U.S.A. | 2013 | 99 min.
Attractive, privileged Rachel (Kathryn Hahn) lives a seemingly idyllic life with her successful husband, Jeff (Josh Radnor). A fortyish stay-at- home mom, she divides her time between volunteering at the local Jewish Community Center, sipping wine with friends, and avoiding confessing too much to her quinoa-munching, oversharing shrink (Jane Lynch). When Rachel welcomes stripper and escort McKenna (Juno Temple) into her home to “save” her from a life as a sex worker, it rattles the JCC’s bored housewives, frustrated husbands, and Rachel’s views of her own staid existence. This hilarious yet nail-biting drama revels in the existential trials of a Peter Pan generation distractedly tapping their iPhones instead of tuning into what matters.
